A USEFUL LITTLE GUIDE

Getting a useful image under 75 KB

Between 40 and 90 KB is the range many application portals use for ID-style photos. A head-and-shoulders portrait a few hundred pixels wide usually fits at good JPG quality, so aggressive settings are rarely needed. Plain, evenly lit backgrounds compress far better than busy ones.

A 75 KB budget holds roughly a 760 × 510 px JPG photo or a 910 × 610 px WebP photo at good quality. The compressor searches for the highest JPG or WebP quality that fits within 76,800 bytes. If quality alone is insufficient, it reduces dimensions in 15% steps while keeping the aspect ratio. PNG conversion always requires your choice.

YOUR FILES. YOUR BUSINESS.

Small files.
A big commitment to privacy.

Your photos hold moments, memories and sometimes sensitive details. That’s why compression happens on your device. Your images are not uploaded to our servers.

How we protect your privacy
BEHIND THE SMALLER FILE

How image compression works.

Not every image needs every byte. For JPG and WebP, we search for a quality level that fits your chosen size. If that’s not enough, we gradually reduce the dimensions, keeping the original proportions.

PNG works differently: its browser encoding is lossless. If your target needs a format change, you make that choice. You can always compare the preview and check the final size before downloading.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few little answers.

Everything you need to make
your next image a little lighter.

What resolution works best for a 75 KB photo?

Around 760 × 510 px is a comfortable size for a 75 KB JPG. If your portal also specifies exact pixel dimensions, enter them under Resize dimensions so the compressor works from the right starting size.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Compression happens directly inside your browser on shrinker.app. Your images are not uploaded to our servers. Selecting, previewing and downloading use local files and browser Blob URLs.

How do I compress an image to a specific KB size?

Choose a preset or enter a custom size, then select Compress Image. For JPG and WebP, the tool searches quality settings and reduces dimensions if necessary. Check the result size before submitting it elsewhere. One KB in this tool equals 1,024 bytes.

Does compression reduce image quality?

JPG and WebP compression can lose detail. The tool tries to retain the highest quality that meets your target at each resolution. PNG encoding is lossless, although resizing a PNG still removes pixel detail. Always check the preview.

Why is my PNG still larger than the target?

Canvas doesn't expose a lossy quality control for PNG. If lossless re-encoding can't reach your limit, choose an explicit conversion to WebP or JPG, or try larger target settings. WebP can preserve transparency; JPG uses a white background.

Can I use this on my phone?

Yes. Use a current browser, choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image under 20 MB, and save the result to your device. Images above 40 megapixels or 16,384 pixels on either side are rejected to limit memory use.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Shrinker is free and doesn't require an account. There are no paid APIs or upload quotas. Advertisement spaces are reserved for future use; no advertising provider is currently connected.
